Natural leather care

Properly cared for, a leather bag will not age and will only improve in appearance and value over time. Proper care is the key to enjoying your handbag for many years to come. Caring for a leather handbag is not complicated at all. Just follow the steps below:

Waterproofing your natural leather handbag

It is best to waterproof your suede or smooth leather handbag as soon as you buy it. This is a great way to protect it from water stains and light soiling. For long-lasting protection, we recommend repeating this process every six to eight weeks. Remember to choose the right waterproofing treatment for your type of leather and test it on an inconspicuous area of your bag.

Cleaning Full Grain Leather Bags

Remove light stains with a damp cloth. Heavier stains can be removed with a mild detergent. For larger areas, we recommend professional leather cleaning creams. Remember that leather can change colour under the influence of waterproofing agents.

Cleaning suede handbags

Leather with a brushed finish is more delicate and requires special care. For this reason, do not remove stains with water or liquid cleaners. Instead, use a leather brush or soft cloth to brush out stains.
You can also use powdered white chalk on an oily stain. Sprinkle the powder on the stained area and leave for a few hours. Then remove the chalk and gently brush out the residue.

Note that wet leather should not be dried near a source of heat, i.e. away from radiators.
